Lake Moregna is located in the northern
Lagorai chain, at an altitude of 2081, near the homonymous malga in a
grassy plain surrounded by the spurs of Dos Caligher and facing the Cime
Moregna and further away in the south, Cima Valmaggiore. Lake Moregna can be
reached from Predazzo, Val di Fiemme, on the forest road for Malga
Valmaggiore and from here onto trail 339 through the pine forest of the
"Busa of Slavaci".
In a south west direction, not far from Lake
Moregna, is Lake delle Trote , facing the Cadinon. Further south,
nestled between Cima Moregna and Colrotondo, at an altitude of 2207 is Lake
“Brutto”, ( ugly), in name but not in fact. From here you can climb the
Forcella Moregna and do a circular route following trails 349 and 349 b until you
reach Lake Moregna, again. It's also possible to elongate the hike by following
trail 349 (some precautions needed in the event of snow) to Forcella
Valmaggiore and the Paolo and Nicola bivaouc, here trail 353 leads you to Malga
Valmaggiore. This hike is full of small ponds.
