authgentic jewels amoung the Trentino lakes in an alpine setting of maximum
interest: to the west the Colbricon Group, to the south the Cavallazza Group
and to the east the superb Pale di San Martino Chain. Located between the
Paneveggio and the Primiero Valley at about an hour's drive from the Rolle
Pass. The Colbricon lakes are of cirque origin and are located at 1911 and 1926
m. The homonymous refuge is located nearby. The entire zone, especially the
surrounding mountains, was the scene of intense battle operations during the
first world war. Many excursions can be done here in the valley and in the
surrounding mountains. For those in good shape it's reccommended to try the
loop route from Malga Rolle (Rolle Pass) up along the northern slopes of Mount
Tognazza and Cima Cavallazza and descent to the Colbricon lakes. From here
along trail 348 and back to Malga Rolle. About 600 m difference in altitude and
a 5 hour hike.
