Excursion to Mount Casale, with awesome
views of the South-Western Trentino landscape. At the village of Ponte Arche
follow indications to Comano, here, at the Hotel Panoramica, it is necessary to
pay (€5) to leave the car at the car-park located at an altitude of 1450 (32 Km from Molveno,
approximately 50 minutes).
The hike begins on a dirt road to Rifugio Don Zio,
usually open in Summer at weekends and every day in the first three weeks of
August. Another 10 minute climb through
green lush meadows to the Casale plains where you can catch your breath and
admire the beautiful views over the
Banal and the Bleggio municipalities and unique views of Lake Garda, Lake Santa
Massenza, Lake Toblino and Lake
Cavedine. But that's not all: awesome views of the Val Ambiez and the central peaks of the Brenta
Group and further away, the Caré Alto and other elevations of the Adamello.
There are various options for crossing mount
Casale: from the car park along trail 408 towards Malga Val Bona, and then
towards Cima Granzoline, m.1579. The first part is downhill on cart
track which then turns into a very easy scenic ridge trail across meadows and
through woods . Return by the same route.
Another possibility for the more
determined: from Mount Granzoline to “ Becco dell'Aquila” aka Mount Brento,
m.1545 (base jumper's launching platform).
